Peter McClinton: Born February 2,1826 in County Down, N. Ireland and died May 24, 1917 in Nepean Township Carleton County, Ontario, Canada. Parents were Samuel McClinton and Margaret Torney of N. Ireland. Peter McClinton came to Canada in the 1850's with one sister, Elizabeth and three  brothers, Samuel, Hugh and Robert S. McClinton.
 Peter was married in Ontario, Canada to Mary Faulkner born  about 1823 in County Antrim, N. Ireland and died February 4, 1911 in Twin Elm, Carleton County,    Ontario. Peter McClinton and Mary Faulkner are buried at St.Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond,   Ontario.

Buried in  St.Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond, Ontario. Elizabeth was married April 23,1889  in Nepean Township to John Cummings: Born June 21, 1853 in Nepean Township. Died : December 29, 1933, burial, December 31, 1933 at St.Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in  Richmond, Ontario.

Elizabeth Mary McClinton and John Cummings had two children:

                         i. Peter Robert Cummings: Born March 4, 1890 in Nepean Township. Died August 22, 1969 in Ottawa, Ontario. 
                        ii. Mary Elizabeth Cummings: (Mayme) Born September 3, 1897 in Nepean Township. Died May 21, 1985 in 
                             Kemptville, Ontario. Mayme was married to Robert John Roney: Born March 25, 1886, died May 18, 1961. 
                             Mary Elizabeth (Mayme) Cummings Roney and John Roney had one son.

2. Robert William McClinton: (No Photo Available) Born 1861 in Nepean Township, Carleton County, Ontario 
and died September 6,1934 in Goulbourn Township, Carleton County, Ontario. Buried at St.Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond, Ontario. Robert was married October 10, 1883 in Wakefield Township, Ottawa County, Quebec to Abigail Shouldice: Born: 1864 in Wakefield Township, Ottawa County, Quebec. Died August 27, 1924 in Nepean Township. Burial August 29, 1924 at St.Paul's/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond, Ontario.

Robert William McClinton and Abigail Shouldice had one daughter:

                         i. Margaret Isobel McLinton: Born December 17, 1884 in Wakefield Township, Quebec. 
                                                                                        Died June 15, 1960 in Ottawa, Ontario. Married to Joseph Barney. (no dates)

 3. Samuel Torney McClinton: 
                                          Born January 14,1862 in Nepean Township, Carleton County and died January 15, 1940 in Goulbourn Township, Carleton County, Ontario. Buried at St. Paul's /Old Methodist Cemetery, Richmond, Ontario. Samuel was married October 2,1889 at St. Paul's Church, Goulbourn Township, Ontario to Anna Maria Bradley. Born: Feb. 18, 1868 and died 1935.

Samuel Torney McClinton and Anna Maria Bradley had three children.

 i. Charles Wilbert McClinton: Born February 9, 1891 in Nepean Township. Died October 10, 1891, burial 
     October 12, 1891 at St.Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond, Ontario.

 ii. Ethel May McClinton: Born April 4, 1893 in Nepean Township, Carleton County, Ontario. Died October 10, 
      1961 in Goulbourne Township, Carleton County, Ontario. Ethel May McClinton married George F. McCoy and they had 3 children.

 iii.Lilly Beatrice McClinton: Born April 9, 1896 in Nepean Township, Carleton County, Ontario. Died December 11, 1974. Burial, December 13, 1974 at Munster Cemetery, Goulbourn Township, Carleton County, Ontario. Lilly married Arthur P. Fee.

4. Hugh Ernest McClinton: 
                                   Born February 2, 1864 in Nepean Township, Carleton  County, Ontario, Canada and died May 23,1937 in Nepean Township. Buried at St.Paul's United Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond, Ontario. Hugh married June 8,1887 in Wakefield Township, Quebec to Jane Maxwell:  Born April 1, 1865 in Wakefield Township, Quebec. Died June 15, 1925 in Nepean Township. Burial June 17, 1925 at St. Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond, Ontario.

Hugh Ernest and Jane had nine children:

    Township, Carleton County. Burial April 2, 1911 at St.Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond. Ontario. 

 iii. Joshua James McLinton: Born March 15, 1892 in Nepean Township. Died February 6, 1977 in Ottawa, Ontario. 
     Burial February 8, 1977 at St.Paul's United/Old Methodist Cemetery in Richmond, Ontario. Note: Jimmy was namedafter his Uncle Joshua  James McClinton. 

iv. Walter McLinton: Born April 25, 1894 in Nepean Township. Died January 1, 1955 in Ottawa, Ontario.

v. Jessie McLinton: Born July 22, 1897 in Nepean Township. Died May 14, 1969 in North Gower Township, Carleton
     County. Burial May 16, 1969 at Kars Cemetery, Goulbourn Township, Carleton County, Ontario. 

 vi. Carrie McLinton: Born December 2, 1899 in Nepean Township. Died August 12, 1960 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Please Note : This is the generation where the spelling of McClinton was changed to McLinton  in our branch of the family As the story goes, passed on by my father's cousin, a school teacher changed the spelling around the turn of the 20th Century, as he or she decided it would be easier to spell. The next four generations have been spelling the name McLinton.

Also Note: Jane Maxwell and Sarah Maxwell  were sisters. Jane was seven years older that Sarah who married her brother-in-law, Peter Faulkner McClinton. Jane and her husband Hugh Ernest McClinton settled in the Gatineau area after their marriage, on land acquired from her uncle Sam and Hugh's uncle Samuel. Within a few years, the 1891 Census shows them back in Nepean Township.
