Samuel McClinton (II) born
about 1822 in County Down, Ireland. Samuel was the fourth child
of eight children, born to Samuel McClinton (1785) and Margaret Torney (1787). Samuel came to Canada, from
Ireland, with his oldest sister, Elizabeth and three brothers, Hugh, Peter, and Robert, in the late 1840's.
Samuel left the Nepean Township, Carleton County area, shortly after arriving in Canada and migrated
to Wakefield, Ottawa County, Quebec. Here he met and married Elizabeth Maxwell, born in Wakefield, about
1838. Samuel and Elizabeth were married October 3, 1854 and together they had thirteen children. The children
